The IRCT, in conjunction with our associates and organisations in the region, strongly condemn the murders of humanitarian workers in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) that occurred on 4 October.
Echoing the outcry of our associates in Eastern DRC and Burundi, we call for independent investigations into these murders and the 18 September massacre of more than 40 people in Gatumba, Burundi, near the eastern border of DRC.
These deplorable incidences and other continuous acts of aggression and violence in the region have impeded the much-needed humanitarian work of local and international organisations. Our partners have called for independent investigations into these massacres to be carried out by independent and competent judicial authorities, and we reiterate their demand.
See the IRCT site for our full statement.
